OpenAI is testing the new search engine called SearchGPT
OpenAI unveils a new search engine, with ChatGPT as a "prototype", in private beta.
The new search engine is designed to provide "relevant answers" to questions. SearchGPT will analyze the latest information from various web sources and provide it to users. From a user interface perspective, Search GPT does not differ significantly from the chatbot ChatGPT.
The user enters a query and SearchGPT provides information and photos from the internet, along with links to relevant sources. After that, users can ask for clarification or explore additional links in the sidebar.
In addition, SearchGPT works differently from a regular search engine. Instead of simply providing a list of links in response to a query, it tries to organize the information and make it more meaningful.
In an example from OpenAI, the search engine summarized its findings about music festivals and provided brief descriptions of the events, followed by links to the original sources.
The SearchGPT currently has only a "prototype". To try SearchGPT, users first need to log in to the Open AI account, and then can apply to join the waiting list.
