Figma doubles London presence months after Adobe takeover collapse
Software design company Figma announced the relocation of its European headquarters to Devonshire Square, a major mixed-use development near Liverpool Street in London. This move signifies a significant expansion within the UK capital, doubling both office space and employee headcount.
With approximately 15,000 square feet, the Devonshire Square workspace becomes Figma's largest hub outside the United States. The location strategically combines the "prestige and professionalism of the City" with the "creative energy of East London," according to Siobhan O'Reilly, regional manager EMEA at Figma.
This expansion reflects Figma's commitment to the UK market, particularly following the cancellation of its acquisition by Adobe in 2023. The deal, valued at $20 billion, faced regulatory concerns related to potential harm to competition within the product design software market. Despite the acquisition falling through, Figma received a $1 billion termination fee from Adobe.
The company's move to Devonshire Square aligns with the evolving profile of the City of London, attracting a broader range of businesses beyond traditional financial institutions. "This deal with Figma is indicative of the City's evolving profile amongst a broader mix of businesses," affirmed Andy Booth, director of offices at Devonshire Square.
With this expansion, Figma reinforces its presence in the European market and solidifies its commitment to fostering innovation within the design software industry.
