Figma launches new additions to Figma AI and gradient binding in DevMode

Figma has added several new features to its Figma AI beta version, including improved asset search in the community and the ability to enhance image resolution in the Figma editor.

"Boost resolution" and "Remove background" features

Using Figma's AI features, users can remove the background and enhance the clarity of low-resolution images. To improve image quality, users need to select the layer that contains the image they want to enhance. Next, click the "Actions" button on the toolbar and select "Boost resolution" to increase image resolution. To remove a background from a picture, select the "Remove background" option.

Assets Community search

The Assets panel in Figma is a library for design components and styles that users can easily drop into their designs.

The new feature allows users to quickly find assets by searching through top community files in the design editor. To find an item, users need to simply enter a few keywords into the search bar or upload an image to find similar elements.

Using AI, Figma searches for words that match, as well as related components. For example, when searching for "arrow", it will show components that have "arrow" in their name and description, and also components similar in shape or function to arrows.

These features are part of the limited beta version of Figma AI and are being implemented gradually at the moment.

Gradient Variables Binding in DevMode

Figma now supports the plugin API for binding variables to gradients and the ability to inspect gradients in DevMode. Prior to this update, the DevMode was not able to recognize the gradient variable, which caused inefficiency in the work processes. This update aims to improve the process of transferring designs to development and ensure consistency between the design and development stages.
