Google presents new update for Google Maps and Waze

Google has updated Google Maps and Waze, adding improved user interface elements to make it easier for users to find their destinations and be aware of traffic situations and other obstacles on the road.

What changes Google Maps receive:

Google Maps now has an easy-to-find report button. By clicking on it, users can easily send a report about any problems or obstacles on the road they have encountered. Other drivers who pass through the same area will be able to confirm the presence of danger with just one click.

Another new feature will help users find their way to a destination
This option will identify the entrance to a building as users approach it, by highlighting the building in red and indicating the main entrance with a green indicator. In addition, Google will start showing nearby parking lots, making it easier for users to park nearby.

What changes Waze receive:

Waze now recognizes different types of traffic cameras.
Drivers will be alerted to cameras that record speeding, running red lights,
driving in the wrong lane (for example in a bus-only lane), and cameras that detect if drivers are not wearing seat belts or talking on their phone.

With Waze's new road events feature, users can get a better understanding of how events affect traffic in their area. If a user has driven through an area recently or marked places nearby in Waze, they will receive notifications as soon as an event starts in that location. Waze will let users know if there are closed roads or what the current situation is in a particular area. To help friends and family, users can easily share these details.

Waze users will also be able to use the navigation and receive traffic alerts even when their phone is locked. According to Google, lock screen navigation on Waze will launch worldwide for Android users this month and will become available for iOS users later this fall.

Google has also introduced a new AR feature for its Google Maps app, which offers a unique way to explore landmarks and other attractions.

A new AR feature, that uses Google Lens, allows users to see famous landmarks in their current location as they might have looked in the past. Users can now use their phones to view the Eiffel Tower in the 1900s and access interactive information maps with more details about the history of this iconic Paris landmark.
