Instagram tests redesign focused on Reels
Instagram has begun limited testing of a new interface where the Reels tab becomes the app’s main page. The first users to see the update are in India and South Korea.

In the new design, Stories remain at the top of the screen, but the messages button is moved to the central navigation bar. The Reels tab takes the second spot, and next to it appears a Following tab with three feed options: All (recommended posts and Reels from followed accounts), Friends (content from friends), and Latest (the most recent posts). Switching between tabs is done with swipes, making the experience more similar to TikTok.
Meta emphasizes that this is still just an experiment for a small group of users, but the redesign could eventually roll out globally.
