Meta AI is launching a "memory" feature to offer more personalized responses
Meta has announced the launch of a new feature for Meta AI chatbot that will "remember" certain details about users, such as their preferences or interests. This will allow providing more relevant responses to each user, based on their individuality.
In chats with Meta AI on Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp on iOS and Android devices in the United States and Canada, users can now tell Meta AI about their interests and preferences, such as their love for traveling or listening to specific music genres. The AI bot will remember this information and use it to provide responses.
For example, if Meta AI suggests a recipe that includes meat, and the user informs the chatbot that he is a vegetarian and do not consume meat, the chatbot will take a user's preferences into account for future conversations.
Meta says the chatbot will also use account information from all its apps to make more personalized recommendations. This information may include user's location, age, gender, or recently viewed videos and posts on Instagram or Facebook.
According to Meta, their AI will only remember information from private conversations and not from group chats. Users will also have the ability to delete "memories" at any time.
Personalized AI-recommendations will start appearing in the United States and Canada first. Currently, there is no option to "turn off" this feature.
Similar memory features are also available in ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
