Microsoft unveiled a new interface for the web version of Excel

Microsoft recently announced a series of updates for Excel for web, including a significant visual refresh. This overhaul aims to streamline workflows and enhance user experience by introducing a modernized interface.

The update delivers a "Simple. Easy. Delightful" aesthetic, characterized by slightly larger yet less rigid and structured sheets, columns, and rows. This design aligns Excel for web with the broader Microsoft 365 suite, fostering a cohesive user experience across applications.

The menus have been streamlined, featuring fewer options for a clearer layout. Data fields now utilize a more vibrant color scheme, while the application window adopts a neutral light gray palette, replacing the traditional green theme.

Additional usability improvements include a new quick resize function for rows and columns. Hovering over the borders activates resizing handles, enabling users to easily adjust dimensions and improve data presentation.

The update also introduces a simplified interface for managing rows and columns. Hovering over a header reveals small circles for effortless insertion or deletion of additional fields. Additionally, a streamlined drag-and-drop functionality facilitates the rearrangement of entire rows and columns within the spreadsheet.
