Opera Launches Opera One Browser with ChatGPT and Smart Tabs

Opera has released a beta version of the One browser, featuring a new design, automatic tab grouping, and an integrated generative AI system comprising ChatGPT, AI Prompts, and ChatSonic.

Update: a full release took place on June 20, more details on the Opera official website.

Opera One is a completely redesigned web browser that will replace the current Opera Browser. The user interface of Opera One is built on a modular architecture: As new features are added to the sidebar or new tabs are opened, existing elements automatically adjust to reflect changes.

Tab Islands is one of the new features introduced in the One browser, which automatically groups tabs according to the context of open pages. For example, if you are looking for where to go on vacation, then all sites and queries on the topic will be combined into an “island” and will be highlighted in one color. The same thing will happen with a bunch of Google or YouTube tabs.

Groups that are no longer needed can be collapsed so that tabs do not take up screen space.

The sidebar integrates workspaces, multiplayer (Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal widgets), a block with messengers (WhatsApp, Telegram, and others), as well as a block with generative AI: ChatGPT, AI Prompts, and ChatSonic.

Opera One is now available as a developer preview, which you can already test by clicking here. The final release of the browser will take place “later this year.”
