Threads adds location sharing to posts

Threads is adding a new feature that allows users to add locations to their posts.

The feature is similar to the location tags on Instagram. When users allow Threads access to their locations, there will be a list of nearby places that users can tag. Users can also manually search for a place to tag or create fictional locations like "magic world" or "hell".

If geolocation is already enabled, users will see a pin icon in the message editor. They can click on the icon to indicate their location.

However, adding a location to a Threads post does not provide an exact point on a map. Instead, this feature allows sharing a general area like city, shop or café. If a user sees another post that includes a location on Threads, they can click on the location to see more posts from that area.

At the moment, this feature is only available in the Threads app on iOS devices.
