Twitch mobile app gets streamlined interface with personalized feed

Twitch's mobile application undergoes a significant update, prioritizing a TikTok-style feed. The update commenced testing earlier this year and is scheduled for full deployment to Android and iOS users this week, as announced in a company blog post.

The new app interface presents a feed of live streams tailored to your preferences and communities of interest. Navigate through the feed to swiftly preview different live streams, and tap to engage in those you wish to watch. Alternatively, switch to the Clips feed for quick updates when time is limited.

For streamlined access, accessing your followed channels is simplified by clicking the upper left corner to reveal a drawer with all your subscriptions. Select a channel to visit its dedicated page instantly.

The redesigned mobile app enhances user efficiency with:

  • A discovery feed for exploring live content
  • A follow drawer for monitoring live updates from followed channels
  • A clips feed to catch up on recent highlights
  • Stories for updates from followed streamers when offline

Additionally, tabs across the app have been updated:

  • The Browse tab for searching or browsing by category
  • The Activity tab consolidates notifications and messages
  • The Profile tab manages account details and subscriptions
  • The creator + button provides quick access to the dashboard, story posting, and live streaming

Updates based on early feedback include user-controlled autoplay settings for the feed, default muted feed on opening (adjustable in settings), and a mute button directly on the feed for enhanced viewing control. Picture-in-picture functionality has been enabled, and ongoing improvements to app performance continue post-launch.
