The Role

Job Title:  Product Designer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create & maintain design documentation (Design Systems, Pattern Libraries)Advocate for use of consistent user patterns, supporting design or product
  • Support UXR in conducting user and stakeholder interviews, user acceptance testing, and usability testing to gather evidence and requirements
  • Assist UXR in validating designs, hypotheses, and recommendations with data, providing rationale for decisions
  • Help UXR identify objectives and metrics to evaluate design performance
  • Use the most appropriate methodology, processes & tools to research, design, validate and deliver
  • Present a range of recommendations for design solutions to stakeholders, articulate the reasons that bring you to a specific recommendation and the considerations
  • Work closely with product designers, product managers, business analysts, engineers and QAs
  • Work with subject matter experts and colleagues outside own team to understand viability and feasibility of solutions
  • Colleagues (across all products) to understand user mental models and impact
  • Give and solicit feedback from fellow designers to improve quality of designs
  • Attend and participate with design team rituals to improve collaboration and consistency (e.g. stand up, show & tell etc.)

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in all aspects of product design, designing for multiple platforms (Responsive web, Android & iOS)
  • 3+ years of visual design experience with proficiency in typography, desktop/mobile UI, color, layout, iconography and aesthetic sense and how these elements impact product function
  • An online portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables
  • Degree in design engineering, human computer interaction, product design, interaction design or a related field or equivalent industry experience
  • Excellent knowledge of responsive design and mobile UI/UX design principles and methodologies as they relate to software development
  • Applied knowledge of user-centred design (UCD) practices, including but not limited to usability testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping and accessibility.
  • Experience in using UX/UI design best practices to design solutions
  • Experience working with cross-functional agile/scrum teams
  • Demonstrated experience proving designs, hypotheses and recommendations through use of data or validated evidence, and providing commercial rationale for design decisions
  • Proficiency with industry standard design tools (e,g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe suite, etc.) for the creation of artefacts and presentations
