Figma has rolled out an exciting update that allows users to lock the aspect ratio of nearly any object, including frames, shapes, images, videos, vectors, and text. This feature ensures that the proportions of an object remain intact while resizing the object or its parent container.

Previously, Figma offered a "Constrain Proportions" option that only worked when adjusting the width or height fields in the properties panel. With the new aspect ratio lock, you can now proportionally resize objects directly from the properties panel or on the canvas itself.

Objects that previously had the "Constrain Proportions" applied will no longer follow the old behavior, so you'll need to switch to the new "Lock Aspect Ratio" option instead. This update provides more flexibility and control, making it easier to maintain consistent proportions across your design.
