ChatGPT received plugin support for connecting to third-party services, which can rightfully be called an absolute game changer. The innovation will allow the chatbot to access up-to-date information from the Internet and use various services. Plugins will give the chatbot access to relevant information in real time, such as sports results, stock prices, news, etc.
Until now, ChatGPT could only use the pre-2021 dataset it was trained on. Plugins will expand the capabilities of the chatbot and allow it to quickly find information on the Internet. OpenAI says they can be the "eyes and ears" for ChatGPT.
The first plugins have already been connected, there are 11 of them in total: Slack corporate messenger, Zapier application automation platform, Instacart food delivery, Klarna fintech service, Shopify online store software developer and others.
OpenAI also introduced two of its own plugins. The first is an open-source search plugin that allows ChatGPT to access the user's browser to find information on the web. The second is a code interpreter for Python. It can solve mathematical problems, analyze and visualize data.
Plugins will allow the chatbot not only to browse the web, but also to interact with certain websites, performing actions on behalf of the user, such as ordering food. So, the user will be able to create a recipe using ChatGPT and order the necessary ingredients in Instacart. ChatGPT will upload the list of ingredients to the shopping service and redirect the user to the site to complete the order. It will also be possible, for example, to book tickets for a vacation that you have planned using Bing.
One of the plugins that will appear in ChatGPT is Wolfram Alpha, a computational search engine that can answer precise questions, do any kind of mathematical calculation, provide facts and statistics, and can help you find answers to questions in physics, chemistry, biology and other scientific disciplines.ChatGPT's error rate in responses will tend to 0. Everyone will now have access to their own "laboratory".
The plugins will be available initially to a small number of ChatGPT Plus subscribers, and later on to plugin developers, general users, and those who would like to add plugins to their products.
