Raspberry Pi and Sony have jointly developed the Raspberry Pi AI Camera Module, which is available for purchase at a price of $70.

The Raspberry Pi AI Camera Module, powered by the Sony IMX500 "Intelligent Vision" sensor, is capable of processing various types of data using a built-in accelerator and 8MB of dedicated memory. This allows for real-time object detection, segmentation, and position estimation, among other tasks. At the same time, the core of the Raspberry Pi's GPU remains free for other applications.

The main features of the Raspberry Pi AI camera:

·
Sony IMX 500 12-megapixel intelligent image sensor
· Sensor modes: 4056x3040 at 10 frames per second and 2028x1520 at 30 fps
·Cell size of 1.55 microns x 1.55 microns
·78-degree field of view with manual focus adjustment
· Integrated RP2040 for neural network and firmware management

The AI camera can be connected to all Raspberry Pi models, including Raspberry Pi Zero, using regular camera ribbon cables.

It is expected that the Raspberry Pi AI Camera module will allow creating fully functional intelligent cameras that will be able to classify objects.
