YouTube is testing 4K videos for Premium members only

Looks like 4K videos on YouTube will soon be available only to Premium subscribers. Now Google is testing the feature on individual users.

The new feature was first reported by a Reddit user. He shared a screenshot showing that in order to watch YouTube videos in good quality, he needs to upgrade to a Premium subscription.

According to TechCrunch, one of YouTube's official customer support responded to a user that he may have been part of the company's “experiment to know better the feature preferences [sic] Premium & non-Premium users.”

Officially, the company refused to comment on the story, so there is a small chance that it will end with tests.
