The WABetainfo portal announced that the beta version of WhatsApp for Android now has the ability to transcribe voice messages into text. This new feature was added in the latest beta release, 2.24.15.5, and is currently only available to a limited number of users.

Initially, the feature for transcribing voice messages was introduced in WhatsApp in May 2023. However, it was initially available only to users of the iOS platform.

Currently, the voice-to-text transcription feature supports English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Hindi. In the future, the messenger developers plan to add support for additional languages.

To decrypt voice messages, users need to download a language pack or a voice message transcription. After downloading, the audio will be analyzed and a transcription will be created. All transcripts are generated on the user's device, and voice messages are encrypted to ensure privacy.
