Discord introduced new game overlay and added free themes to desktop app
According to Peter Sellis, senior vice president of product at Discord, "all of these updates are meant to enhance legibility, reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed by visual noise, and maintain consistency across desktop and mobile devices".

Discord has released a new game overlay with enhanced game support and widgets, improved performance and added new themes to the desktop app.
The game overlay now includes separate widgets, allowing users to access voice and video controls through an action bar. With just a single click, users can start streaming their game or join a voice call. Users can also watch their friends' game streams directly in the overlay.
Widgets can be positioned anywhere on the screen without interfering with the gameplay experience.

Discord has also expanded the selection of free desktop themes, including Light, Ash, Dark, and Onyx (dark theme). Users can also customize the UI density to adjust the intervals for better readability.

The updated desktop app also features better indicators of whether the user's microphone or camera are on. Other buttons have been combined into one panel for easy access.
