Figma presents a major redesign of its user interface, which marks the first significant update in nearly five years. Figma's goal was to streamline and simplify access to its array of tools, which have accumulated since the previous redesign.

The unveiling took place during the Config 2024 conference, where Figma demonstrated a set of new features aimed at improving user experience and optimizing the design process.

The main changes of Config 2024 update:

New AI capabilities that allow users to create a unique and spectacular design.
"Make design" is a feature that allows users to create layouts for mobile and web interfaces using text prompts. "Visual Search" allows users to browse their team's work for inspiration or specific projects.

Content creation tools fill projects with realistic text and images, going beyond placeholders and creating more attractive and convincing layouts. Background removal tools allow users to isolate objects in images directly in Figma, eliminating the need to switch between different applications.

One of the most impressive features is the ability to create prototypes quickly. By clicking on "Create a prototype", users can instantly turn static designs into interactive ones. This feature makes the process of transitioning from design to prototype much easier, as it automatically determines how the design will function.
Dev Mode has been improved as well. All changes made to the design are immediately reflected in the code panel.

Figma AI is launching as part of a limited beta test, with interested users able to join the waiting list. The company reports that the beta period will last until the end of the year. During this time, Figma's AI tools will be available for free, although the company may impose "usage restrictions".

In addition to these features, Figma has recently introduced a new product called Figma Slides. This tool combines the power and precision of Figma with a user-friendly slide feature, allowing designers and teams to create and present interactive presentations. Figma Slides support collaborative creativity with features like comments, chat, audio, and an organized grid view, making the presentation process just as smooth as the final product looks.
