Framer updates: Page, CMS & Locale Drafts and OpenType
Framer has introduced an update that will delight designers. The new drafts feature allows you to save different design options, and the expanded OpenType support opens up new possibilities for working with fonts.
Framer now offers a Drafts feature. This feature enables work on Pages without immediate publication. Drafts are accessible for Pages, CMS, and Locales. The Canvas allows for viewing and previewing Drafts, which remain unpublished on staging and live sites. New Pages are automatically saved as Drafts. Drafts functionality is available for Pro and Enterprise Workspaces.
Specific updates:
- Drafts functionality added for Pages, CMS Items, and Locales in Pro and Enterprise Workspaces.
- Option to enable or disable automatic saving of new content as Drafts.
- Functionality to replace a selected page with a Draft.
The July Update enhances Framer with comprehensive OpenType support for both Fontshare and custom fonts, including the popular Inter typefaces, Text 4.0 as the default and Display 4.0 for headings. Improvements include streamlined Variant—Breakpoint naming and refined Inter font display, addressing issues such as grid layer duplication, silent failures in custom font uploads, persistent mask display, inconsistent date and time input heights, incorrect page name displays, animation glitches during variant switching, unresponsive line height settings in forms, truncated balanced text, and non-functional hidden settings in select inputs.
