Google Photos is anticipated to introduce a new sharing feature known as My Week, designed to enable users to share weekly memories with friends and family. This feature was identified earlier in the year through an APK teardown and has been manually activated in advance of its official rollout for a preview of its functionality.

An APK teardown involves examining code under development to anticipate potential upcoming features for a service. However, it is important to note that anticipated features may not ultimately be released to the public.

While My Week is not currently operational in Google Photos version 6.90, it has been manually enabled to capture screenshots of its user interface. The feature appears as a new "Introducing My Week" tile within the Memories carousel. Selecting this tile initiates a setup process guiding users through the selection of photos to share and the issuance of invitations to allow others to view their weekly memories.

Once configured, chosen photos are presented in a dedicated card within the Memories carousel. Users can tap on this card to access a new My Week section where they can add additional photos, review previously shared photos from past weeks, and communicate with invited contacts. Recipients, similarly, can view shared weekly memories in the Memories carousel on their devices. Tapping on the tile opens a slideshow with options to like photos and leave comments.

In addition to the My Week feature, several minor updates are expected in a forthcoming Google Photos update. These include user interface adjustments for the Places section featuring a new map display at the top, and enhancements to photo details indicating whether a photo is part of an album or memory. Furthermore, Google is considering relocating the Sharing activity option to the Updates section for easier accessibility, while users will still be able to view their sharing activity through the app settings.
