Google Workspace received a number of updates and Gemini integration at cloud:
Enhanced Email Composition: Improved functionality for Help Me Write in Gmail. Mobile users can now leverage voice prompting and input for easier on-the-go email creation. Additionally, an "instant polish" feature streamlines note-taking by converting rough notes into complete emails with a single click. Data from Google indicates that 70% of enterprise users who utilize Help Me Write in Docs or Gmail adopt Gemini's suggestions, highlighting the value of this AI-powered writing assistant. These features will be available to Gemini Enterprise and Business subscribers, along with Google One AI Premium users.
Streamlined Document Organization: Google Docs introduces a new tabs feature, allowing users to organize information within a single document, eliminating the need for multiple linked documents or Drive searches. Furthermore, Docs gains support for full-bleed cover images, enhancing document aesthetics. Both features will be available to all Docs users in the coming weeks.
Smarter Spreadsheets: Google Sheets benefits from a new tables feature, designed to automate data formatting and organization with a clean design. Users can also select from a new collection of pre-built templates, catering to various needs like project management and event planning. This eliminates the need to build spreadsheets from scratch. Conditional notifications are another new addition, providing automatic alerts based on user-defined triggers, such as changes in a specific field.
AI-Powered Communication: Gemini expands its capabilities within Google Chat, offering conversation summaries and answering user queries directly within the chat interface. It also appears as a convenient side panel on the web version. Automatic message translation, available later this year, further enhances communication across language barriers. Additionally, Google increases member capacity within Google Spaces to 500,000.
Advanced Meeting Features: Google Meet gains a "Translate for me" function, automatically detecting and translating captions in 52 new languages, bringing the total to 69 languages or 4,600 language pairs. Additionally, a "Take notes for me" feature is currently in preview. Google announced at Cloud Next 2024 that Gemini integration with Chat and Meet will be available as part of a new AI Meetings and Messaging add-on for enterprises, priced at $10 per user per month.
Enhanced Data Security: Google introduces a similarly priced AI Security add-on, empowering IT teams to automatically classify and protect sensitive files across the entire Google Drive organization. This privacy-preserving solution leverages AI models trained on an organization's specific data, enabling continuous evaluation, classification, and protection of existing and new Drive files for all employees. The add-on also offers DLP controls and classification labels within Gmail, alongside experimental support for post-quantum cryptography (PQC).
