Microsoft announced Cocreator, a new feature for its PC Copilot+ devices. Cocreator leverages diffusion-based algorithms to generate images based on user input, including text descriptions and hand-drawn sketches within the familiar Microsoft Paint interface.

Previously available to developers and Windows Insiders, Cocreator expands creative possibilities for PC Copilot+ users. During a Surface event demonstration, Microsoft showcased Cocreator’s ability to combine user drawings with text prompts, allowing for a unique blend of human and artificial creativity. A “creativity slider” further empowers users to control the balance between their own artistic input and AI-generated elements.

PC Copilot+ receives additional enhancements beyond Cocreator. These include a “Recall” function for recording and replaying user actions, “Live Captions” for automatic speech-to-text conversion, and “Windows Studio Effects,” a video conferencing tool with background filters, lighting controls, noise reduction, and a teleprompter.
