Pinterest adds new feature for sharing Pin Boards in social media
With a new feature, Pinterest users can share boards in an easier way on social media
Pinterest is rethinking their app for the Generation Z era and creating feature that allow users to create short videos of their Pinterest boards to share on social media platforms.
For Gen Z users, Pinterest isn't just a platform. It's a place to discover yourself and express yourself, where you can build your own identity on your own terms, without outside influence.
With a new feature, Pinterest users can share boards in an easier way on social media. The shared boards will also contain links that, when clicked, viewers will return to the full board on Pinterest, where they can view or buy the collected content. Pinterest users have already created more than 10 billion boards.
Rachel Hardy, Director of Consumer Product Marketing at Pinterest, said,
"Gen Z makes up over 40% of our global monthly users on Pinterest and are our most engaged generation, with a significant increase in the number of boards created by Gen Z Pinners compared to last year. We are enhancing the board features based on user feedback and, this year, board sharing is one of our critical investments as users value the ability to share their creative processes on different platforms and find inspiration from others.”
At launch, the company collaborated with power users and recording artists,
Avril Lavigne and Tierra Whack, to showcase the new functionality.
The feature was positioned as a way for authors to engage with their fans in new and exciting ways. Avril's board featured fashion ideas and advertisements for her upcoming tour, while Tierra used Pinterest for her interests and to find inspiration for creative projects.
