At its Stream On presentation, Spotify announced a redesign of its app and several new features. The home screen of the Spotify mobile app will get a new way of working and will look a little like TikTok and Instagram.
Now, if you tap the Music, Podcasts & Shows, or Audiobooks label at the top of the interface, Spotify will open an endless feed of TikTok-style cards with recommendations. In the case of music, the user will be shown short looped Canvas clips, and in the case of podcasts, an excerpt from the video version of the show or visualization of the playback.
It's also a bit like the user experience that Netflix offers us. When the user has the opportunity to quickly immerse himself in the atmosphere with the help of a small piece of content and understand whether he wants to listen to it further or not. In this way, Spotify hopes to offer users even more new content.
Spotify also introduced an artificial intelligence DJ. The AI DJ feature will provide users with a curated selection of music based on their preferences, along with voice commentary about tracks and artists that the listener is interested in.
The DJ is now available on the mobile app for Spotify Premium accounts in the US and Canada.
Also, musicians will now be able to add 30-second Spotify Clips to their profiles, which will be seen by all their subscribers. And the new Countdown Pages tool will allow artists to create a countdown page to the release of a new album or single. Users will be able to subscribe to the release and see the list of tracks in it.
