Steam has launched family sharing for all users
The most significant addition to family sharing is that now multiple people can play different games from the shared library simultaneously.
Valve's new Steam Family feature, which was successfully tested in beta earlier this year, is now available to all users of the platform.
Steam Families allows users to create a family of up to six Steam accounts and assign each member a role, such as adult or child.
Using Steam Families, parents can manage parental controls for their children's accounts, and approve or deny requests to purchase games on Steam.
Adult users will also be able to view reports on children's activity, recover lost passwords, invite new members, delete members, and leave Steam families.
All games in the user's Steam library will be automatically added to the Steam Family library for access by all members.
The most significant addition to family sharing is that now multiple people can play different games from the shared library simultaneously. However, if one family member wishes to play a game while another is already playing, they will need to purchase an additional copy. Steam Families also allows playing shared games offline.
To start using Steam Family Sharing, users need to update their Steam client and invite their family members.
