Telegram’s September major update

The newest Telegram update introduces fresh ways to personalize your account and interact with friends. Now users can pin music to their profile, set a default profile tab, unlock chat themes tied to collectible gifts, upgrade friends’ gifts, and more.

Music on profiles

Any audio from a user’s chats can now be added to their profile with a single tap. Once pinned, the track appears in a sleek bar beneath the photo. Each new addition builds a playlist, automatically stacking with previously added tracks.

To add music, simply hit Add to Profile in the media player or choose Save to… > Profile from the track menu.

The stickers mini app

Telegram’s long-standing sticker editor has received a major upgrade with the new Stickers Mini App. Users can create custom stickers and emoji, organize sticker packs, and even view usage statistics — all in one place. Telegram’s open platform makes it easy for anyone to design and share their own artwork.

Fresh profile design on Android

Android profiles now feature a redesigned layout with smooth scrolling animations — a style that first debuted on iOS. The redesign comes from Telegram’s creative contests, which often open doors for talented designers, developers, and creators to join the team.

Default profile tab

Users can now choose which profile tab appears first, making it easier to highlight stories or collectible gifts. To change it, go to Settings > My Profile, press and hold the tab, and set it as your main tab.

Gift-Themed chat wallpapers

Since 2021, Telegram has supported chat themes. Now collectible gifts unlock special animated wallpapers. Each theme is tied to the unique attributes of a gift, making every collectible one-of-a-kind. Currently available for Plush Pepes, Precious Peaches, Durov’s Caps, and Heart Lockets.

Upgrading gifts for others

Users can now contribute Stars to help others upgrade their gifts. When the recipient decides to upgrade, the process is free for them. A new Upgradable filter makes it easy to find eligible gifts, while the Upgrade Next Gift option lets to upgrade multiple gifts in a row. To make it more exciting, the upgrade animation now includes added suspense.

Gift value and marketplace

Telegram’s Gift Marketplace now displays the approximate resale value of each collectible. Expanding the Value field reveals detailed stats, such as the average selling price of items in the same collection.
