On May 21, 2024, Threads announced two new features for its users: mute notifications and quote controls.

Mute Notifications

Previously, users could not mute notifications for individual posts within Threads. This update allows users to mute notifications for specific posts, providing greater control over their notification preferences.

Quote Controls

Threads has also implemented quote controls. Users can now limit who can quote their posts and manually unquote any unwanted quotes.

Previous Testing and Wider Availability

These features were previously tested with a limited group of users. Based on positive user feedback, Threads has now rolled out these features to the entire user base.

Additional Update

Threads is also currently testing a new interface for its web version, inspired by TweetDeck. This interface offers multiple customizable columns and real-time post updates. However, there is no official announcement regarding the wider release of this new web interface.

Downloading the Latest Version

To access the new mute notifications and quote controls features, users are encouraged to download the latest version of the Threads app.
