TikTok, following the YouTube Music, has launched a music recognition feature “Sound Search”.

The new feature can recognize a song even if it's hummed or "mumbled".
In addition to identifying the song, the feature also shows popular videos that use this song.

Sound Search on TikTok is somewhat similar to the already mentioned YouTube Music and Shazam. Although Shazam is the most famous music recognition tool, new features from TikTok and YouTube Music provide more options, as they allow identifying songs by humming or singing them, whereas Shazam only works if the actual song is playing.

During testing, TechCrunch discovered that the more popular a song is in the app, the more likely it is to be recognized by the new feature.

Now, the feature is available to a limited number of users. Those who have it can access by going to the search bar within the application, clicking on the microphone icon, and selecting "Sound Search."

It is currently unknown when TikTok intends to make this feature available to all users.
