Threads, a social media platform focused on microblogging, is currently testing a new feature that allows users to automatically archive their older posts after a designated timeframe. This functionality aims to streamline content management by removing the need for manual archiving.
According to a post by Threads chief Adam Mosseri, users will have the option to choose a specific time period. Any posts exceeding that timeframe will be automatically archived, disappearing from their public profiles. Importantly, Mosseri emphasizes that archived content is not permanently deleted and can be made public again at any time.
The feature is part of an ongoing beta test, and the decision to implement it widely is still under evaluation. User feedback plays a crucial role in this process. A recent poll conducted by Mosseri revealed a preference for manual archiving among the majority of respondents.
In this current iteration, users must actively opt-in to enable automatic archiving. It's important to note that this feature is subject to change or even removal entirely based on user feedback and internal testing.
Threads is also piloting a new search filter that prioritizes recent results over suggested content. This functionality, alongside the introduction of sports scores within search results, further enhances user experience within the platform.
The Threads app is available for free download on the App Store. Users are encouraged to update to the latest version to access these new features.
